Welcome to June! Another month goes by and we’re closer to finishing the series.
Book one is on draft 4 of editing. This is a lot of line editing, removing repetitive narration as well as tightening up my prose.
I’ve done a lot of research, and although I’m new to this, I’ve learned a lot, and I think from draft one to draft four makes a HUGE difference! I have an editor lined up, it’s our dear friend Sara Bittner! Who I’ve just finished reading The Lighthouse Keeper and the Mermaid, and she’s fantastic at all the grammar edits that my dyslexic ass cannot figure out. So, I know once I get eyes on there, it’ll make a great book!
Book 4 was just read by my lovely bestie Bee, who also is a fantastic developmental editor and her feedback has been fantastic. And without her, I wouldn’t be able to fine tune the story the way it needs to be. So, I’m so extra appreciative of her!
Book 5 has been a lot to deal with. I’ve been the most stuck on it, and I’m partially going to blame the stress of personal life. With so much going on, my creativity has been in a bit of a slump. But as I’ve slowly started to recover through commission works, I’ve been feeling a bit more relaxed, and ideas are hitting me again. Usually at the most inconvenient of times. The shower. Cleaning. Eating. SLEEPING! But you know, it is what it is.
There are many scenes I want to write in Book 5 that I’m looking forward to. Part of me wants to go back and start editing book 2-3, but I need to keep focused. Finish 5, 6, and 7. And I wish to finish before the end of the year so I can work on getting book 1 out and published by 2026. Its further back than I wanted, but this process has a bit more than I ever thought it would be!
I drew two illustrations for the series in May, and you can find those HD files on Patreon. One NSFW and one SFW, both Mermay inspired! I’ve also written and uploaded a nice little extra spicy scene on Patreon that you can find over there.
For June, I’m going to continue on commissions, using that a source of income while working on editing and writing, and drawing, and promotional material! Woo! Actually, since losing my job and trying to do this full time, I’ve been the most busy ever. But it’s super fulfilling.
I’ve had to create some spreadsheets as a way to stay up to date on things. Otherwise I’d fall to chaos and get stuck. But so far so good with slight modifications here and there. So be sure to stay tuned on my socials. I primarily use Threads and Instagram. Threads is for daily postings, Instagram for art. But be sure to watch my stories, I’ll be using those moving forward for discounts and other social interactions as I get my Discord up and running. I’m also working on adding Patreon users to Instagram Stories Close Friends section to get exclusive announcements!
I have two illustrations planned this month for Patreon. Then Discord will get them three weeks later, and eventually they’ll be up on my socials for the public to see. Of course the NSFW can’t be.
